Next Generation Indie Film Awards is a non-profit awards program devoted to supporting filmmakers around the globe by recognizing excellence in filmmaking.

Next Generation Indie Film Awards supports filmmakers through its annual awards and other programs. We endeavor to assist filmmakers at any stage of the filmmaking process in reaching an audience, and we aim to advance filmmakers’ careers through services, education, and resources.

Jane Campion

Jane Campion

2023 Luminary Award Honoree

Being the first female director to receive the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival in 1993 alongside an Academy Award, Jane Campion has created, co-written, directed and produced several Short and Feature films. Her most recent film, The Power of the Dog, received 12 Academy Award nominations and premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2021 where Jane was awarded The Silver Lion for Best Director.

Tij D’oyen and Cameron Morton have collaborated on many films together, including NGIFA winner Lollygag, as well as Tij’s most recent film, Nepotism, Baby! They continue to create impactful independent films that explore unique stories that command the world’s attention.

Our 2023 Best Overall Film winner received a Grand Prize Package worth over $135,000 in film services and rental credits to help create their next passion project in Los Angeles.

This awards ceremony was truly amazing. It is rare to see an organization that recognizes and champions short films. My son and I enjoyed the entire event and as a University Professor and Filmmaker, I will encourage my students to enter this competition.

Calum Worthy

Founder and Gala Host

Calum Worthy began his acting career at the age of nine and made his film debut in the BBC award-winning mini-series I Was A Rat. Worthy’s most acclaimed roles include Hulu’s The Act, Netflix’s American Vandal, Eminem’s Bodied, and Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally.

Worthy is a vocal activist for the environmental movement and is currently working with Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and Bono’s One organization. He has millions of followers across his social media platforms which he dedicates to educating and empowering his fan base on the climate crisis and gender inequality in developing countries.
